With tests coming up in both classes, we have make sure we know all the material from the unit. PLEASE START STUDYING NOW!! We will have a review day in class but if you need extra help, I am always available before and after school as well as during lunch. Every other Thursday I am helping out at the Student Academic Center...another great place for extra help. Today ran quite smoothly. This is what we did:
Geometry: I handed out the Unit 1 test study guide to help in early study. This will not be due until the day of the test but please start it now so you know what you need more work on. After that we started the Proofs Packet (pink) together and learned how to write 2-column proofs (I also passed out a yellow packet with the answer responses to help the writing of the proofs).
HOMEWORK: Finish the Proofs Packet (it is due next class)
REMEMBER: All missing work is due the day of the test so please also be working on that.
UPCOMING TEST: Oct 5th/6th (Tues/Wed)
Algebra II: We first refreshed our minds on how to graph lines, then we learned how to graph inequalities. The only differences are a dashed vs. solid line and shading on one side of the line.
HOMEWORK: Pg 104-105 #1-9, 20, 21, 23, 24, 26, 28, 34, 36, 37, 38

Sept 27/28 Day 12
Monday was our first Minimal Day and Tuesday was short periods because of testing and the career fair. Even with shorter periods, we still had plenty to do. If you were absent, here's what you missed...
Geometry: We are still struggling with Angles and Parallel Lines so we went through the homework wkst together as a class and worked on more similar problems from the book.
HOMEWORK: Pg 136 #14-35 (36-37 are BONUS)
Algebra II: After reviewing the homework, we learned how to graph on our graphing calculators (IF YOU HAVE NOT PURCHASED A GRAPHING CALCULATOR, PLEASE DO SO NOW BECAUSE WE WILL BE USING THEM!) and made some discoveries about the absolute value function. (A guide to discovery is the blue worksheet given in class.)
HOMEWORK: Pg 97 #17-19, 23-37 (odd)

Sept 23/24 Day 11
After a LONG night of Parent Teacher Conferences (THANKS TO ALL THE PARENTS WHO STOPPED IN...IT WAS GREAT TO MEET YOU!) we survived another day. Even though we have only been to class 11 times (which seems crazy to me) we are getting into more complicated stuff that REQUIRES you understand what we have done so far. Therefore, if you are feeling lost AT ALL, you need to come see me and get some help. PLEASE!! I don't know how else to beg!
Geometry: We learned about Inductive Reasoning and how to make Conjectures. We then used the Parallel Line Conjecture to decide if lines are parallel or not.
HOMEWORK: Parallel Lines yellow wkst (see me if you were absent)
Algebra II: After reviewing domain and range and parallel vs. perpendicular lines, we learned function notation, f(x), which is just a different way of saying "y=" for functions. We also learned how to graph Absolute Value using the vertex and slope.
HOMEWORK: Pg 59 #16-30 (evens), Pg 91 #29-38

Sept 21/22 Day 10
Another day in math class is complete. Thank you SO MUCH to all who worked so hard to get their missing work in before the test. Those still missing work will have to work that much harder to do well from here on out. Please come see me if you feel you have fallen behind and are not understanding.
Geometry: Today we learned about Transversals and the Parallel Line Conjecture (chapters 3-1 and 3-2 in the textbook). We worked on identifying interior, exterior, corresponding, alternate interior, alternate exterior, and consecutive interior angles.
HOMEWORK: And orange worksheet handed out in class and Pg 129 #22-47, 70-75
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Tests are graded and in Skyward. Please check your grade. Those of you who have turned in all assignments on time (no late work) have the opportunity to re-take the test if you are not happy with your score. This must be done before 3pm on Friday, Sept. 24th!
Algebra II: We hit two main subjects today...Finding the domain and range of relations and deciding if they are functions or not AND parallel and perpendicular lines.
HOMEWORK: Domain and Range white wkst and Parallel/Perpendicular Lines pink wkst

Sept 9/10 DAY 6
We survived the first test of the year! For Geometry it wasn't much of a test but still a test. Poor Algebra II had to battle a big one! Good work guys! I am proud of you! Now I get to spend my weekend grading them! Fun for me! Here's the details of the day!
Geometry: We took our Vocab Test (which needs to be made up within a week for anyone who was absent) then we learned how to copy and bisect segments and angles using a compass and a straight edge. All students need to know how to do this so come and learn! We also turned in our angle pictures today. They are worth more than usual homework assignments so PLEASE get them in...late is better than never!
HOMEWORK: Pg 41 #4,5,8,9,11-16,23,24,28,29,37,40
Algebra II: We went over the review then jumped right in with the test. That was the class. Any students who need to finish their tests need to do so before the weekend. Those who missed class have one week to come in and take the test. Please do so. This is a BIG part of your grade!
HOMEWORK: ENJOY THE WEEKEND!!!
See you next week!

Sept 7/8 DAY 5
Welcome back after our 3-day weekend!! I hope all enjoyed an extra day to sleep in. I know I did. I started and finished a book and thoroughly enjoyed some time to myself.
Now we are back and staying busy. Here's what happened today:
Geometry: We took a day to slow down and really solidify our ability to think outside the box and visualize 3D. We also reviewed some of the new vocabulary that we have learned since Day 1.
HOMEWORK: Practice 1-2/1-3 worksheet (come see me if you need a copy) both sides
REMEMBER: Angle pictures are due next class AND we are going to have a vocabulary test so study your vocabulary!!
Algebra II: The unit 1 test is coming up VERY soon...meaning NEXT CLASS!! So today we worked more on absolute value problems and then used the class time to work on the Unit 1 Review.
HOMEWORK: Unit 1 Review worksheet (come see me if you need a copy)
REMEMBER: Unit 1 Test AND notebook check next class Sept 9/10
Good luck studying!!! Please come see me with ANY questions!!!

Sept 2/3 DAY 4
Another BIG day in math class. We have a few new students that have transferred in. Please realize that you need to make up EVERY assignment we have already completed since the beginning of the school year. I am here to answer questions if you can't figure it out yourself.
Here is what we did today:
Geometry: We looked at examples and non-examples of different types of angles (right, acute, obtuse, complementary, supplementary, adjacent, vertical, and linear pair).
HOMEWORK: Pg 33 #4,7,8,28,30,32,50; Pg 12 #1-2; Pg 17 #30-36
(Angle Pictures--Due Sept 9/10)
Algebra II: We learned how to solve equations and inequalities with absolute value. Please review your notes and the book for help. I know it was a lot to swallow today.
HOMEWORK: Pg 36 #3-27 (multiples of 3), 36-51 (multiples of 3), 67,68
REMEMBER: Next class we will review unit 1. Please come with questions. Unit 1 test will be taken in class on Sept 9/10! Please do not miss unless you ABSOLUTELY have to.
Have a great weekend!!
