Oct 29th/Nov 1st Day 1
Here is the first assignment of the quarter (start now by getting all assignments in on time):
Geometry: Our new unit is still dealing with triangles but now we are looking at CONGRUENT TRIANGLES. Today we discussed corresponding parts and used the CPCTC Property (which states that Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent).
HOMEWORK: Pg 195 #9-16, 20, 29-32
Algebra II: Our new unit is on QUADRATICS (chapter 5 in the textbook). Today we looked at properties of parabolas and learned how to find the axis of symmetry and the vertex point.
HOMEWORK: Pg 241 #1-12; Pg 248 #10-15, 37-39
Tips and Reminders for Success in Miss Robinson's Math Classes
1. DECIDE NOW THAT YOU CAN DO MATH!!!!!
2. Come to class prepared with the needed tools…paper, PENCIL, textbook, calculator (NOT PHONE), protractor (for Geometry).
3. Remember tests are 60% of your grade so it is VERY beneficial to do well on them!
a. Use the study guides I give you before each test to make sure you know all the material and if you don’t, come ask me questions before or after school or even at lunch. If you know everything on the study guide, you will know how to do everything on the test.
b. It does take study and hard work! You can’t expect to just show up to class and be able to pass.
4. Do your homework!
a. Remember that the majority of points on homework are given for turning it in on time, complete, with all work shown and every problem solved.
b. If you don’t understand how to do the homework, don’t just give up and not finish. Come ask me for help. You have a full day in between classes to come see me for help.
c. A great tip for success on homework is to complete the homework the day it is assigned NOT THE DAY BEFORE IT IS DUE! This way if you come across something you don’t understand you can get help before the next class.
d. LISTEN IN CLASS!! If you find yourself not understanding how to do the homework on a regular basis then you need to make sure you are doing all you can to understand while still in class.
e. If you miss a day, YOU ARE NOT EXCUSED FROM THE NOTES OR THE HOMEWORK!
f. Don’t expect to finish homework in class the day it is due!
g. Use class time given to work on homework to get it done not just chat.
h. Homework turned in without a name is kept in the bottom slot of the “OUT” box until it is claimed.
5. Try not to miss a class!
a. If you are absent at any point, YOU need to put in the effort to learn what you missed.
b. This means getting the notes you missed from a fellow classmate, checking the class blog on the day you missed to get the homework assigned that day, and then coming to ask me all your questions.
6. Complete EVERY quiz every day and use it as a way to know if you understand the material.
7. Take all the notes in class AND review them at home!
8. Use the class blog!

EXTRA CREDIT FOR GEOMETRY!!!
Details: We have one more test before the end of term on triangles. There are a lot of new terms and things to memorize. So your task is to come up with a fun, creative way to remember everything we have learned about triangles that you can share with the class (if you would rather not present to the class, you can just present to me).
For example: Come up with a song that helps to remember that a centroid is made by three medians, a circumcenter is made by three perpendicular bisectors, an orthocenter is made by three altitudes, and an incenter is made by three angle bisectors.
OR: Come up with a way to remember that a median is the midpoint connected to the opposite vertex, an altitude is the perpendicular line through the vertex, a perpendicular bisector is a perpendicular line through the midpoint, and an angle bisector is a line that splits the angle.
OR: Be creative to remember the difference between a scalene, isosceles, equilateral, acute, right, and obtuse triangles.
Have fun with this and be creative. The better the method the more extra credit points you will receive! Good luck!!
Note: Your ideas need to be ready to share next class...the day of the review.

Oct 7th/8th Day 16
Geometry: Day one of our next Unit (Let's make this one better than the last one!) We are starting triangles and learned how to classify them (acute, obtuse, right, scalene, isosceles, and equilateral) then we learned some properties about them. For example: all angles in a triangle add up to 180 degrees, any two side lengths added together have to be bigger than the third side, the angle opposite the biggest side is the biggest angle, and the exterior angle is the sum of the two remote (opposite) angles. (We took lots of notes in a packet I gave you so if you missed, please get the packet and copy the notes from a classmate.)
HOMEWORK: Triangle Conjecture wkst, Pg 181 #13-18, 26-27; Pg 189 #15-16
Algebra II: TEST DAY!! We took Chapter 2 Test. If you missed, please come in before or after school to make that up. The sooner the better. (I'll give you til the 19th of October.)
