Nov 28th-Dec 3rd Week in Preview

I apologize for getting this out late this week. Yesterday was an unexpected day full of unexpected surprises. I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday. I sure enjoyed spending time in New York City with my sister but planned to be back for school Monday. And in fact, I was back but I was stranded and unable to get to my car or to school. So a BIG APOLOGY to my A day classes for a bit of a rough day. We will make up for it on Wednesday and have it be so that B day learns the material first. Here is what to expect the rest of the week...

Geometry:

Nov 29th/Dec 1st Day 10

We discovered the properties of our final quadrilateral...the Trapezoid! We also discussed the differences between any trapezoid and an isosceles trapezoid. (A day classes, we will review all of this on Wednesday.)
HOMEWORK: Trapezoid wkst/Pg 442 #13-18
Mini-Test on all Quadrilaterals next class Dec 2nd/3rd. MEMORIZE all the properties of each quadrilateral!

Dec 2nd/3rd Day 11

We will take a mini-test on quadrilaterals. After the mini-test, we will learn what a polygon is, the difference between a regular and a non-regular polygon, and how to recognize a concave vs. convex polygon.
HOMEWORK: Pg 48 #2, 4-6, 12-18, 39-44

Algebra II

Nov 29th/Dec 1st Day 10

We started our next unit! Chapter 7 Radical Functions and Rational Exponents. To start us off in Section 7-1 we reviewed the properties of exponents (pg 368 in the textbook) then we learned all about roots and radical expressions.
HOMEWORK: Pg 368 #1-23 (columns 1,2), Pg 372 #3, 5, 10-28 (evens), 33, 34, 44, 48

Dec 2nd/3rd Day 11

We will be learning two sections 7-2 and 7-3 on Multiplying and Dividing Radical Expressions and Binomial Radical Expressions.
HOMEWORK: Pg 377 #3-33(multiples of 3, skip 30), 43, 53, 77-79
Mini-Test next class Dec 6th/7th on sections 7-1 through 7-3!!

Two Weeks in Preview Nov 16th-19th and Nov 22nd-26th

Since next week is Thanksgiving...CRAZY!!... and we only have two days of school, I am going to post everything we will be doing until the break. Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Thanks.

Nov 16th-17th Day 7

TEST DAY!!! We will be taking the Congruent Triangles Test. And please don't forget your book this day because we will be doing a review assignment afterward (the test is not that long and will not take all period).
HOMEWORK: Pg 171 #3-11, 16-21

Nov 18th-19th Day 8

First day of our Quadrilaterals/Polygons Unit (that means 4-sided figures). We will spend today learning all we can about SQUARES, RECTANGLES, and RHOMBUSES.
HOMEWORK: Pg 428 #10-24, Pg 434 #3-7, 12-19

Nov 22nd-23rd Day 9

We will spend this day exploring all the properties of PARALLELOGRAMS AND KITES.
HOMEWORK: Parallelogram and Kite Practice wkst, Pg 421 #13-22

Algebra II

Nov 16th-17th Day 7

This will be our final day of new material from chapter 5. We will memorize and use the quadratic formula to solve quadratics.
HOMEWORK: Pg 293 #7-16, Ch 5 Test Review

Nov 18th-19th Day 8

If everyone has the Test Review complete, we will answer questions and then play a review game. Otherwise, we will spend the time in class completing the review.
HOMEWORK: Study for the test!!!

Nov 22nd-23rd Day 9

TEST DAY!!! We will be taking the Chapter 5 Test. Please do NOT miss this day of class!
HOMEWORK: None as long as we are quiet during and after the test.

Because of the big game today in Salt Lake, classes were VERY short. We still did a quiz but due dates will be adjusted for my B day classes!

Pg 57 and the Blue wkst (with Pythagorean Theorem) will be due on Monday, Nov 15th.
Also due is the Congruent Triangle Test Review. If you missed class today, please come get one from me before the weekend so you can get it done! Thanks.
REMEMBER: The Congruent Triangle Test is next week...Tues/Wed Nov 16th/17th!!

Algebra II:

Pg 264 will be due on Monday, Nov 15th. And we will have to cram two lessons into one day and have an extra assignment to make sure we keep up and are ready for our Chapter 5 test on Nov 22nd/23rd!

Nov 8th-12th Week in Preview

Another week is upon us as is some colder weather and many sick students. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come see me to catch up on material you have missed so you don't fall behind!! Here is what's to come this week...

Geometry:

Nov 8th/9th Day 4

We need some more practice with Pythagorean Theorem, so we will work with more right triangles to help us understand the hypotenuse/leg postulate. We also need to make sure we don't forget the stuff we have already learned. So we will review chapter 1 material.
HOMEWORK: Blue wkst on right triangles; Pg 57 #1-11, 15-20

Nov 10th/11th Day 5

We will spend another day on proofs using congruent triangles.
HOMEWORK: Congruent Triangles Test Review

Nov 12th/15th Day 6

This day will be spent reviewing all the material on congruent triangles in preparation for our test. The test will be Nov 16th/17th!
HOMEWORK: None so PLEASE STUDY!!!!

Algebra II:

Nov 8th/9th Day 4

We will learn how to factor quadratics that do not have a leading coefficient of 1.
HOMEWORK: Pg 264 #31-48, 51-59

Nov 10th/11th Day 5

We will learn what is means and how to solve quadratics that can be factored.
HOMEWORK: Pg. 270 #1-6, 36-42 (skip 40), 65

Nov 12th/15th Day 6

We will learn about complex numbers and their properties.
HOMEWORK: Pg 278 #1-18 (evens), 29-46 (evens)

Nov 2nd/3rd Day 2
We will be learning about the main theorems that prove triangles congruent...SSS, SAS, AAS, and ASA. Remember AAA and SSA DO NOT WORK!!
HOMEWORK: Pg 203 #2, 7-8, 22-25, 32-40 and Pg 210 #1, 25-28

Nov 4th/5th Day 3
We will start working with proofs that prove triangles congruent.
HOMEWORK: Pg 204 #16-18, 21

Algebra II:

Nov 2nd/3rd Day 2
We will be looking more into quadratics and learn about vertex form and how each number affects the graph (transformations). This is all in Chapter 5-3 of the textbook.
HOMEWORK: Pg 255 #1-19 (odds), 27-30

Nov4th/5th Day 3
We will have our first day of factoring quadratics into two binomials (Chapter 5-4 of the textbook).
HOMEWORK: Pg 263 #7-24
