Feb 28th-March 7th Week in Preview

I cannot believe we are already moving right into March. Third quarter is going to be over before we know it. (The quarter ends on the 25th of March.) As always make sure you are keeping up with everything and coming in for help on anything you are not understanding.

This new week is going to be a bit strange because of the ACT test being offered on Tuesday. I will see a lot of my B classes and very little of my A classes. But we can't get behind on A days so my A classes are going to have to work really hard to keep up with everything. Here's the overview:

Geometry:

Monday (B classes) February 28th

We will be working more with slope and graphing practice to solidify the concepts we have thus far learned in coordinate geometry. Make sure you understand how to find the slope in two ways and how to graph a line as well as write the equation of a line.
HOMEWORK: Graphing Practice Packet

Wednesday/Thursday March 2nd/3rd

We will learn about parallel and perpendicular lines and how to recognize them. Parallel lines have the same slope where perpendicular lines have negative inverse slopes.
HOMEWORK: Pg 142 #8-9, 19-24, 29-32, Pg 147 #27-34

Friday/Monday March 4th/7th

We will learn how to graph circles on a coordinate graph and know what each part of the equation represents.
HOMEWORK: Doplar wkst

IMPORTANT UPCOMING TEST: The coordinate geometry test will be on Thursday/Friday March 17th/18th!

Algebra II:

Monday February 28th (B Classes)

We will learn how to graph translations of cosine and sine functions. We will also learn how to write the equations of these translations. (Section 13-7 in the textbook)
HOMEWORK: 13-7 wkst

Wednesday/Thursday March 2nd/3rd

We will learn how to graph the tangent function and how to solve tangent equations. (Section 13-6 in the textbook)
HOMEWORK: 13-6 wkst

Friday/Monday March 4th/7th

We will spend the day reviewing all of chapter 13, the trig functions, and work on the test review packet.
HOMEWORK: Ch 13 Test Review

IMPORTANT UPCOMING TEST: The chapter 13 test will be on Tuesday/Wednesday March 8th/9th! Start preparing now!!

Let's make it yet another great week!!

HELLO FROM WASHINGTON DC!!!!!

I miss you all but I am having a great time at the Nation's Capitol! I hope you are behaving well for the substitute. I will be back on Wednesday and will look forward to a good report.

Here is what this week will look like...

Geometry:

Tuesday/Wednesday February 22nd/23rd

Since I am still gone Tuesday these days will look like Thursday Friday of last week only swapped.

B Day Tuesday: With the substitute, you will be making connect the dot pictures using points that you plot. You will need to finish two pictures in class and can then take them home to color for some bonus.
HOMEWORK: None unless you want some bonus

A Day Wednesday: We will discover the distant formula and the midpoint formula and practice finding the distance and midpoint when given two points.
HOMEWORK: Distance and Midpoint and Collinear wkst

Thursday/Friday February 24th/25th

We will practice finding the slope of a line given two points or given a line. We will also graph constants and learn how to write the equation of a line given a point and the slope or given two points.
HOMEWORK: Pg 142 #2-6, 15-18, 25-28, Pg 147 #4-8, 10-11, 15-24

Algebra II:

Tuesday/Wednesday February 22nd/23rd

Since I am still gone Tuesday these days will look like Thursday Friday of last week only swapped.

B Day Tuesday: With the substitute, you will take a quiz on 13-1 through 13-3 then work on a review worksheet with factoring and quadratic stuff from chapter 5.
HOMEWORK: Chapter 5 review worksheet

A Day Wednesday: We will learn how to solve trigonometric equations using inverses. (Section 14-2 in the textbook)
HOMEWORK: 14-2 Homework wkst

Thursday/Friday February 24th/25th

We will identify the period and amplitude of the sine and cosine functions then graph the sine and cosine functions. (Sections 13-4 and 13-5 in the textbook)
HOMEWORK: 13-4/13-5 Homework wkst

Let's make it a great week!!!

February 15th-18th Week in Preview

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Valentine's Day filled with love and candy! :) We have another great full week ahead of us! Here's what is will look like...

Geometry:

Tuesday/Wednesday February 15th/16th

The last class we started our similarity packet. We will finish the packet today in class and talk about the relationship between the proportion of the sides and the proportion of the areas. We will then start an introduction to our next coordinate geometry unit. (This means plotting points, graphing, finding slope, etc.) Our introduction will focus on plotting points and graphing constants.
HOMEWORK: Coordinate Geometry hw 1 wkst

Thursday/Friday February 17th/18th

I will be absent on Friday so the days will look differently for each class.

B Day Thursday: We will discover the distant formula and the midpoint formula and practice finding the distance and midpoint when given two points.
HOMEWORK: Distance and Midpoint and Collinear wkst

A Day Friday: With the substitute, you will be making connect the dot pictures using points that you plot. You will need to finish two pictures in class and can then take them home to color for some bonus.
HOMEWORK: None unless you want some bonus

Algebra II:

Tuesday/Wednesday February 15th/16th

We will learn how to use radian measures for angles and how to find arc length and sector area. (Section 13-3 in the textbook)
HOMEWORK: 13-3 Homework wkst

Thursday/Friday February 17th/18th

Again, I will be absent on Friday so the layout of the days will be different.

B Day Thursday: We will learn how to solve trigonometric equations using inverses. (Section 14-2 in the textbook)
HOMEWORK: 14-2 Homework wkst

A Day Friday: With the substitute, you will take a quiz on 13-1 through 13-3 then work on a review worksheet with factoring and quadratic stuff from chapter 5.
HOMEWORK: Chapter 5 review worksheet
